Goldcrest Post provided post-production services and support for three films debuting at this month’s 78th Venice International Film Festival. Among them is The Lost Daughter, a dramatic feature marking the directorial debut of Oscar-winner Maggie Gyllenhaal that is screening in the festival’s international competition.
The feature film Untold: This is My Story is set to have its world premiere this evening at seven o’clock during the Dances with Films: LA film festival at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The film is based on the true story of first-time director Gina M. Garcia who was abducted and raped when she was only eight years old.
The Hip Hop Film Festival its month-long run with a week jam packed with celebrity events and cyphers. BET’s Big Fifty screening will close out this year’s festival on September 2, at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Brooklyn. Directed by media personality, writer, and film director Russ Parr, Big Fifty tells the unbelievable true story of bigger-than-life Delrhonda Big Fifty Hood, who went from street thug to respected gangsta to finding redemption. Big Fifty stars Remy Ma, Durrell Tank Burbs, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Debbi Morgan, Mike Merrill, Vena Excell (aka Pretty Vee) and Michael Anthony.
VFX Legion delivered more than one hundred visual effects for director Rodo Savagues’ action thriller, Don’t Breathe 2, which was released theatrically August 13th. The franchise was born from the creative partnership of Savagues and Fede Alvare, the director of the highly successful first installment, Don’t Breathe, in 2016. Visual effects were key to bringing co-writers Savagues and Alvare’s vision of the sequel to life. Complex computer-generated sequences and digital shots were relied on to augment imagery captured on practical footage, elevating the visceral emotions elicited by the atmospheric thriller.
Kinema, which calls itself a cinematic experience platform, has expanded its film library to a total of more than 60 new titles. New partners include Magnolia Pictures, Greenwich Entertainment, Abramorama, Cargo Releasing, Frameline, Film Movement and Well Go USA. The Harlem Film House’s sixth annual Hip Hop Film Festival will offer film screenings, live block parties, rap battles, master classes known as Master Cyphers, and more. The festival takes place August 1 through September 3, with in-person events at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Downtown Brooklyn, live events on 247films.tv, and in the Harlem Film House VR Metaverse. The opening night Art of the Score pre-festival event, to be held August 1, will feature hip hop legend Chuck D of Public Enemy.
