The Journey First Middle Eastern Film to Release in 4DX Format

Saudi Arabian animation studio Manga Production is releasing its debut feature-length animated film The Journey in the 4DX format, the first film in the Middle East to do so. The film is an epic story that tells historic fantasia of ancient civilizations of the Arabian Peninsula and Middle East in an attractive and high-quality art style, turning those stories immortal and passing them on to generations to come, while celebrating the beauty of the Arabic language through this inspirational creative content.

4DX Sets January Box Office Record

CJ 4DPlex today announced that its multi-sensory 4DX format drew $23 million at the global box office in January, up 18 percent year-over-year, making it the highest ever recorded for the month of January in the history of the company, this despite screenings being suspended in China for several days.

4DX Format Broke Box Office Records in 2019

CJ 4DPlex ended a successful 2019 with a record-breaking global box office for theatres with 4DX immersive seats, grossing more than $320 million, according to the company. With its best year yet at the global box office in 2019, ticket sales for movies shown in 4DX theatres increased 12 percent over 2018's record of $286 million. CJ4DPlex Unveils World's First Four-Sided 4DX Screen

CJ 4DPlex unveiled what it called the world’s first four-sided 4DX Screen movie theatre at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show currently underway in Las Vegas. The company also introduced an indoor AR platform that seamlessly combines reality with virtual objects and announced an ultra-wide zoom lens in development, which can reduce projection distance by 70 percent compared to standard projection lens.

Aquarium of the Future Opens in California

The Aquarium of the Pacific, located near the waterfront in Long Beach, California, recently opened its “aquarium of the future,” called Pacific Visions, which features an immersive theatre, multiple interactive art installations, and hands-on multimedia displays. Brian Edwards, owner of Edwards Technologies, the integration firm that designed and installed the theatre AV and FX system at aquarium, says the project is an example of the future of both the AV industry and of storytelling as a whole.
