Sundance Filmmakers Overwhelmingly Choose Adobe Technology

For the fifth year in a row, more Sundance Film Festival filmmakers selected Adobe video editing and collaboration tools than any other. This year’s annual Sundance Institute survey found that more than two-thirds (67 percent) of Sundance films used Adobe Premiere Pro or Frame.io to bring their stories to life: Premiere Pro is the festival’s most popular video editing software, used by more than half of Sundance films, including Plan C, Going Varsity in Mariachi, Sometimes I This about Dying, Fremont and many others.

Nice Shoes Produces Wedding Season Titles

Nice Shoes produced the main title sequence for Wedding Season, the new romantic comedy from Netflix about a pair of young Indian Americans under pressure from their parents to marry. Creative director Stefan Woronko collaborated with Tom Dey, the film’s director, in designing the witty, lighthearted opener, which draws inspiration from dating apps.

HPA Announces Nominees for 2022 Creative Awards

The Hollywood Professional Association Awards Committee has announced nominees for the 2022 HPA Awards creative categories. Recognized as the standard bearer for creative accomplishment and technical innovation, the HPA Awards honor outstanding achievement and artistic excellence by both individuals and teams. This year’s categories have been expanded to include Outstanding Color Grading, Editing, and Sound for Documentary/Nonfiction and Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects.

Sony Renovates, Upgrades Post Production Facilities

Sony Pictures Post Production Services has finished the renovation of its 229-seat Kim Novak Theatre, equipping it with a new speaker array and film screen, rebuilding its electrical infrastructure and remodeling its interior. Sony Pictures has also upgraded its Dub Stage 12, adding Atmos features, as it continues a multi-year effort to expand and update its sound facilities.

Dolby GFS Winning Filmmaker’s Named

Dolby Laboratories and the award-winning nonprofit Ghetto Film School today announced the winners of the Dolby Institute x Ghetto Film School Filmmaker Challenge: Finish the Script 2021. The competition challenged GFS alumni ages 18-35 to create an original short film proposal in response to a creative prompt from award-winning filmmaker Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting, Raya and the Last Dragon). This year’s winners include filmmakers representing four different projects Alejandra Araujo, Eleanor Cho, Christian Osagiede, and Antonio Salume and Amy B. Tiong.
