Southern Theatres has completed its second all Christie entertainment complex, at the new Southern Theatres Movie Tavern 8 in Covington, Louisiana. The eight-screen cinema eatery has Christie Solaria Series projectors and Christie Vive Audio cinema systems.
Arts Alliance Media has announced that its Screenwriter Theatre Management System and Lifeguard Network Operations Centre software products are now fully integrated with USL’s LSS-100 Quality Control Probe, allowing exhibitors to measure multiple environmental factors in their cinemas. Integration with AAM’s software now allows testing to be started automatically in a screen, with results monitored and tracked over time to identify issues before playback, avoiding missed shows and revenue loss.
The largest exhibitor in southern Brazil, Arcoplex, with more than 50 years in the market, has begun the process of digitalization of 61 of its screens with Doremi technology. The screens will be upgraded with the IMS1000 and IMB/ShowVault.
Studio Movie Grill is opening new locations in Tampa, Florida, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rocklin and Simi Valley, California. Since 2000, Studio Movie Grill has expanded from its Texas roots to soon include 22 locations in ten states.
CineArt Multiplex, the leading exhibitor in Minas Gerais, the second largest state in Brazil has chosen the Doremi IMS1000 integrated media server for its digital cinema transition. The contractual agreement between Doremi and CineArt includes 32 units to be added to the total install base of 41 servers. Quanta DGT is the virtual print fee integrator; CineBrasil is the service provider.
According to at least one survey more than 53 percent of Americans play video games, yet only a small fraction of those make it to the gaming industry’s main event – the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). This Friday, Screenvision will debut exclusive content from E3 within its network of more than 14,200 movie theatre screens during its Front & Center pre-show. The content will feature a sneak peek of the groundbreaking technology that will be available to moviegoers later this year, including interviews with industry leaders like Dell Alienware, Ubisoft and Disney Interactive.

The successor, following liquidation, to Kinoton, the company says it will continue to offer customers custom-tailored, sustainable, complete cinema solutions as well as a comprehensive range of services and products.
Quanta DGT/AAM will be the integrator for the digitization of the largest Brazilian movie theatre chain, Kinoplex. Christie will supply projectors for the rollout, Doremi will supply the servers and Kelonik will be in charge of installations.
CJ 4DPlex, the South Korean maker of a 4D technology-based cinema experience for feature films, will launch its first premium movie in the United States tonight with a press screening of Captain America: The Winter Solider. This weekend general audiences will be able to get the 4D experience at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live Stadium 14 theater in partnership with L.A. Live and theater operators AEG.
South Korea cinema chain MegaBox today will debut the first MasterImage MI-Horizon3D system in the country for the opening of Transformers: Age of Extinction. MegaBox will continue to deploy systems throughout the year.
