Star Cinema Grill First in Houston with Sony 4K Laser Projection

“We wanted to be first to market in Houston with laser projectors,” said Jason Ostrow, vice president of Star Cinema Grill. With the installation of 30 Sony 4K laser digital cinema projectors over three locations, starting with College Station, Texas, Star Cinema Grill is accomplishing their goal. “Houston is becoming a very competitive market, not only with traditional theaters but also dine-in theaters now,” he said. “We need to make sure that with any dine-in theater we open going forward, we’re doing whatever we can to differentiate ourselves. This gives us a true competitive advantage.”

However, there are significant gaps in this audience’s awareness of new theatre offerings/attractions and premium experiences. A new study released today by AARP, What Boomers Want: Insights into Cinema Experience Preferences and Behaviors, examines the specific preferences of movie-goers in an effort to reveal what Boomers want from their movie-going experience as well as reasons why they may not choose to go to theatres more frequently.

At CinemaCon 2018 Sony is highlighting its 4K laser projector systems and direct view Crystal LED display technology. First introduced to the exhibition industry last year, Sony’s Crystal LED display system is now in the market.
