D-Box Renews Ecco Cine Supply Resale, Distribution Agreement
D-Box Technologies has renewed its resale and distribution agreement with Ecco Cine Supply and Service. Under the new two-year agreement, Ecco has been granted the rights to resell and distribute D-Box motion-cueing technology to exhibitors in Europe. CJ 4DPlex Reports Early 2017 Box Office Success
CJ 4DPLex says it closed out a successful first half of the year with record-breaking 4DX attendance and box office revenue. According to the company, from January 1 through June 30, more than 9.3 million 4DX moviegoers helped generate close to more than $110 million at the worldwide box office, the best half-year performance since the company launched 4DX in 2009.
MediaMation Unveils MX4D Esports
MediaMation has launched its MX4D Esports Theatre concept for exhibition. Cinema owners are continually seeking new entertainment to engage patrons. With that in mind, MediaMation is planning to offer a scalable entertainment package that converts a new or existing MX4D theatre into an Esports gaming environment that can then be converted back to the MX4D theatre configuration.
MBO Cinemas Installs AAM’s Producer
Malaysian exhibitor MBO Cinemas has fully deployed Arts Alliance Media’s enterprise theatre management system software, Producer. MBO Cinemas is the first exhibitor in South East Asia to centralize all their operations at head office with AAM’s Producer. The Goldenduck Group managed the system integration.

Ray Nutt Named CEO Fathom Events
Fathom Events, and its owners, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark and Regal Entertainment Group have named Ray Nutt as chief executive officer for Fathom Events. Nutt will be transitioning from Regal Entertainment Group to the role, where he will also serve as a board director.
Cinépolis Opens Maryland Theatre
Cinépolis USA is opening a premium large format theatre in Kimco Realty’s Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas-Gaithersburg, anticipated to open in 2019, marks Cinépolis USA’s debut into Maryland and adds to the brand’s existing list of 16 movie houses in the U.S., six of which are Luxury Cinemas. The approximately 34,000-square-foot movie theater will hold 540 seats.
Atomic Blonde Premieres in Sony 4K
The Universal Pictures International release Atomic Blonde had its world premiere July 17 at Theater am Potsdamer Platz. The event was presented in Sony 4K using the SRX-R15DS dual projection system.
