MasterImage 3D today announced the approval by the Korean Intellectual Property Office of its key patents 10-1387096 and 10-1387097. This newly patented 3D process is the technology behind MasterImage 3D’s MI-Horizon3D digital cinema system. Paul G. Allen’s iconic Seattle Cinerama Theater has announced its second annual Science Fiction Festival, running May 1-12, with 12 days of special programming. As the South American market continues to rapidly expand, Doremi has reached a major agreement with Royal Films, one of Colombia’s largest cinema operators, through Bardan Cinema, one of Latin America’s largest integrators. Further expanding Doremi’s presence in the continent, this agreement adds 130 ShowVault/ IMB servers to Royal Film’s theaters.
Christie has announced that its long-term partner Sonic Equipment Company recently reached a milestone with the installation of its 1,000th Christie Solaria Series DLP Cinema projector.
Barco has introduced what the company is calling “a groundbreaking update” for its digital cinema projector families. Named Barco Alchemy, this new generation combines media server functionalities with cinema processing electronics to further increase reliability and ease-of-use in the projection booth. The Barco Alchemy technology is fully compatible with all new and installed Series 2 Barco projectors. The company says that the 4K Barco Alchemy projectors are the first to show 4K movies at 60 frames per second and 4K 3D content on a single projector.
Silverbird, West Africa’s largest cinema chain, and Ozone Cinemas have transitioned to digital cinema with Barco projectors, servers, 3D systems and theater management systems, which are being installed by CineTech Middle East JLT.
Hoyts Chile, part of Grupo Chilefilms, will install Christie digital cinema technology in its 127 35mm theaters distributed across 23 complexes throughout the country. The technologies include Christie Solaria Series projectors, the Christie Avias-TMS theatre management system and select Christie Vive Audio cinema sound systems.
Studio Movie Grill has opened new theatres in Chatham, Illinois, Colleyville, Texas, The Colony, Texas and Tyler, Texas; more sites are currently in the works. Since 2000 the company has grown to 16 locations and 158 screens in seven states.
