Pathé Tuschinski Upgrades Sound System

The Pathé Tuschinski in Amsterdam, which has been widely acclaimed as the most beautiful movie theatre in the world, celebrated its 100th anniversary last October. Pathé Tuschinski is regularly used for red carpet premieres and, with three more auditoriums added by the purchase of the next-door cinema in the 1980s, audiences can watch films in the luxury of its restored Art Deco interior, with plush seating, private boxes, love seats and at-seat delivery of food and drink. The cinema also boasts 21st Century sound.

Global Cinema Box Office Gaining Ground

This past weekend marked the two-year anniversary of China’s first lockdown in 2020, which marked the beginning of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global box office. There have been a lot of ups and downs since then but there has also been recovery and, despite a few limited re-closures in the past two months, the global exhibition sector, and as a result global box office, is in a far more robust place than it was a year ago, according to the latest report from the London analytics firm Gower Street. China’s business was dormant this week with long-running local holdovers Embrace Again and Fireflies in the Sun sustaining the market until the Chinese New Year holiday begins on February 1.

Arcadia Installs First Meyer Sound Lina

Two premium large format auditoriums at Italy’s new Arcadia Stezzano Cinemas are the first global deployments of Meyer Sound Lina line array loudspeakers as screen channels for the Dolby Atmos immersive audio format. The five screen channels each comprise six element Lina arrays which anchor sonic imagery across the front end. An additional 60 Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeakers envelop audiences in a powerful, dynamic, and richly detailed cinema sound experience.
