B&B Theatres: All in the Family

Crises bring out the worst and the best in people. The history of B&B Theatres began in 1924 when a man named Elmer Bills opened his first theatre in Salisbury, Missouri. A decade later he hired a boy named Sterling Bagby as a concessions clerk. Bagby eventually went on to start his own theatre company and for the next roughly forty years the families were friendly competitors. In 1980 the two families merged their companies into what is now B&B Theatres – Bills and Bagby – and the business is now run solely by the Bagby family. One thing that remained constant throughout the past century in both of those companies was the idea of family, which included their employees.

Thousands of people from around the world who work in the motion picture industry were supposed to be at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas this week for CinemaCon 2020. Instead we are all, for the most part, dealing with the COVID-19 crisis by staying home, washing our hands frequently and practicing social distancing. With the vast majority of the world’s movie theatres closed until further notice and movie production at a standstill, many people are out of work and worrying about when, or if, they will get paid again. NEC Says New Projector is Quietest in its Class

NEC Display Solutions of America has announced the NC1402L, a 9,500-lumen, install-anywhere laser projector that produces a brighter image than any other projector in its class. It is DCI-compliant, and can display images at 2K resolution. The NC1402L is equipped with an internal liquid cooling system, eliminating the need for an exhaust and allowing the projector to run at a quiet 49 decibels. It is also capable of high frame rates and can easily handle projecting 3D content.
