The latest anti-piracy initiative from the Film Content Protection Agency has now concluded, with a significant increase in participation from cinema staff across the UK and Ireland, making it by all measures an unprecedented success. The campaign culminated in a celebratory award presentation at the UK Cinema Association’s annual Christmas Party on December 5.

Fandango, the nation’s leading online movie ticketing service, surveyed more than 9,000 ticket-buyers to find out which films and performances movie fans are most excited to see on the big screen in the new year. According to Fandango’s 2025 Most Anticipated Movies Survey, the films that fans are most excited to see include Captain America: Brave New World, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Jurassic World Rebirth, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and more.

Cinemas Outside US Generate 70 Percent of Global Box Office

More than 70 percent of global box office revenue is generated by international markets outside of the US domestic market, according to a survey conducted by the Australia-based Global Cinema Federation, which was created to support a healthy global cinema industry. The GCF says it recognizes the importance of better educating the entire film ecosystem about the global market.

Home Alone Named UK’s Favorite Christmas Movie

Home Alone has been crowned the United Kingdom’s favorite Christmas film of all time, a new nationwide survey has revealed. The study, conducted by Showcase Cinemas, revealed the ‘90s family favorite starring Macauley Culkin won 13 percent of the vote, beating out competition from 1946’s It’s a Wonderful Life (9 percent) and the Richard Curtis festive rom com, Love Actually (9 percent).

Emperor Cinemas Installing China’s First Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos System

Dolby Laboratories today announced that Emperor Cinemas will be the first exhibitor in China to adopt the combined Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos as the premium sight and sound experience of their own auditoriums, starting with its new site in Taikoo Li Sanlitun, one of Beijing’s top commercial districts.

Harkness Hugo SR Screen of Choice at CineAsia 2024

Hugo SR, the world’s first engineered laser screen from Harkness Screens has been chosen as the screen of choice for CineAsia 2024. The 16.9 meter by 9.25 meter Hugo SR screen installed in Major Cinemas Icon Cineconic, Auditorium 12 (in normal operation a ScreenX auditorium) is being used to showcase both 2D and 3D content from major studio partners. CineAsia runs through December 12 in Bangkok, Thailand.
