Marcus Theatres Signs Service Agreement with Strong Technical Services

Strong Technical Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ballantyne Strong, has signed a multi-year nationwide managed service agreement with Marcus Theatres. Effective today Strong will become the exclusive provider of managed services for all of Marcus Theatres’ cinema locations nationwide. These managed services will include around the clock monitoring, technical support, and maintenance on all projection and audio equipment across more than 1,100 screens.

Empire Cinemas to Install CinemaNext’s Sphera Premium System

CinemaNext and Lebanese cinema chain Empire Cinemas today announced an agreement for the deployment of CinemaNext’s Sphera premium cinema concept at the Al Andalus Mall in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Located on the Red Sea coast, Empire Cinemas’ new 18-screen, 1,176-seat complex featuring Sphera as its centrepiece is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Report: Movies Earn Billions after Day 17

More than $2.6 billion in domestic box office might have been sacrificed in 2019 had a 17-day window been in place. A new report from the research firm Gower Street Analytics shows that 24 percent of total box office across the domestic market last year was taken beyond Day 17 of release. In the most dramatic example of this, Sam Mendes’ 1917 grossed $129 million at the domestic box office beyond Day 17 – an astonishing 81 percent of its lifetime gross.
