Green Day Documentary in Theatres October 15

On the day of its world premiere at the 38th Mill Valley Film Festival, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Green Day have announced a collaboration with Abramorama, Reprise Records and Vimeo to distribute the documentary, Heart Like a Hand Grenade, an unprecedented behind the scenes look at the writing and recording of their legendary album American Idiot. Abramorama will release the film theatrically in the United States on more than 135 screens on October 15 followed by an exclusive Vimeo On Demand release the next day, October 16.

Storaro Chooses Sony CineAlta for Woody Allen’s First Digital Shoot

Sony today confirmed that filmmaker Woody Allen has chosen Sony CineAlta for his first ever-digital shoot. For this special project, Allen will be shooting with Sony’s CineAlta F65 camera and the film will be mastered in 4K. The F65 has long been the choice among filmmakers around the world, including critically acclaimed cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, who will be working with Allen on the currently untitled film.

Are Women the Key to Box Office Success?

Even with such chart-topping titles as Jurassic World and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2015’s unadjusted cumulative box office is up only six percent over 2014 and only one percent over 2013. In a recent presentation, a top Movio executive suggested that the film industry is “leaving money on the table” by not paying more attention to underserved sectors of the movie going audience, namely women.

Hula Post Provides Editing Facilities for Captive

Hula Post recently provided editorial systems, facilities and support to editor Melissa Kent for her work on Captive, Paramount Pictures’ new thrilling drama. Kent spent six months cutting the film at Hula’s Burbank facility, followed by an additional two weeks on Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood. Hula provided Avid workstations and storage at both sites.

Documentary South Bureau Homicide to Premiere in St. Louis

Rough Riders Studios’s feature documentary South Bureau Homicide will be making its world premiere at the 2015 Saint Louis International Film Festival November 14 at the Hi-Pointe Backlot Theatre. Special screenings for the community are being set up in St. Louis and in the neighboring community of Ferguson.
