Jacob Burns Film Center Expansion Nears Completion

Since last August the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York – in addition to being one of the country’s premiere art house cinemas – has been a construction site. Work began then to add two new screens and other amenities to the complex, bringing the total number of screens to five. When completed next month those new theatres will greatly expand the center’s already impressive capabilities.

Rodeo FX Recreates the War-Torn Pacific for Unbroken

Rodeo FX produced 240 stunning visual effects shots for Angelina Jolie’s World War II biopic Unbroken. Partnering again with Industrial Light & Magic, the Montreal-based VFX studio crafted photorealistic images, creating the breathtaking air combat between the B24s and the Zero fighter planes, among other spectacular sequences. Unbroken has been nominated for three Academy Awards, which will be handed out this Sunday.

Filmmakers Depend on Codex for Marvel’s Agent Carter

Codex equipment is playing a key role in the making of ABC’s series Marvel’s Agent Carter. Codex has provided digital recording for director of photography Gabriel Beristain’s cameras, and has consulted with visual effects supervisor Sheena Duggal on the lens mapping, to assist VFX production. According to Duggal, this is the first TV show to use ArriRaw for main unit photography. Marvel’s Agent Carter marks the first time an ArriRaw workflow has been used extensively in series television.

Big Deahl Completes Eggs Campaign, Adds Post Capabilities

Big Deahl Productions has completed a new campaign, entitled EB Living, for Eggland's Best Eggs, through client Calcium. At the same time, the company has added post-production to its capabilities and Big Deahl was responsible for everything from production to post-production to final deliverables for the new campaign, finishing nine spots in total: two :30s, three :15s and four :10s.
