Abramorama and Cinereach have announced the release of the trailer for the kinetic and timely, documentary film Matangi Maya M.I.A. The movie opens in theatres September 21, in the U.K. and September 28 in the U.S.
Arts Alliance Media first opened its doors in London June 17, 2003. In those very early days of digital cinema, the new company and its ten employees carved out a space in technology and what was then called alternative content. The company divested itself of the alternative content business a few years ago to focus on what has long been its core strength: cinema technology. AAM launched its first theatre management system in 2007 and, in 2008, completed the first virtual print fee rollout in Europe with French chain CGR. Today AAM has more than 140 employees spread over three offices in London, Amsterdam, and Guangzhou, China. I recently spoke via email with AAM’s chief executive officer Patrick Foley, and chief technology officer Richard Phillips about those early days of the company and, more importantly, to get their thoughts about the future of digital cinema technology.

Award-winning animation studio Laika has announced that its fifth and most ambitious film to date, Missing Link, will be released in the U.S. next spring. The name, release date and complete cast details were revealed by Laika president and CEO Travis Knight prior to meetings with foreign buyers at the Cannes Film Festival. Annapurna Pictures will distribute Missing Link in the U.S.. AGC International, the sales and distribution division of AGC Studios, is handling international sales.
Abramorama is managing the theatrical release of Straight Into A Storm, the music driven documentary about the band Deer Tick. The film will premiere June 15 in New York at the Roxy Cinema Tribeca.
AGC International will handle foreign sales for animation studio Laika’s Film Five (working title), currently in production at the studio. The announcement was made today by Laika president and CEO Travis Knight and Stuart Ford, CEO of AGC Studios. Laika just announced Annapurna Pictures as its domestic distributor on the film.

Éclair quietly launched its newest technology – ÉclairLive – with the successful first screening of a live event via streaming at the CGR cinema in Vitrolles, near Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Warner Bros. Pictures intends to release up to five titles in CJ 4DPlex’s ScreenX format within the next twelve months. The films announced to date include The Nun in September, Aquaman in December, and Shazam! in April 2019, with additional titles to be confirmed later this year. This will build on the success of Rampage, which was released earlier this month in the panoramic, 270-degree, premium cinema format.
