Juliana F. Hill Appointed to National CineMedia’s Board of Directors

Juliana F. Hill has been appointed to National CineMedia’s board of directors. She has also been appointed by the board to serve as a member of the audit committee. Hill brings her extensive financial, media industry, and outdoor advertising expertise to NCM, following a long career in finance with iHeartMedia, Inc. (formerly Clear Channel Communications), the number one audio company in the United States.

SMPTE Names 2020 Honorees

The Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers has released the names of the industry leaders and innovators who will be honored at the Awards Gala that will be part of this year's interactive remote SMPTE 2020. Scheduled for November 11-12 during the Society's annual technical conference and exhibition, the online celebration will recognize business, technical, and creative leaders and students who have made substantial contributions to the ongoing advancement of media and entertainment technology. SMPTE Fellow elevations will be conferred November 10.

Sara Glaser: Hooked on Sound

Though the numbers are certainly on an upward trend, it’s still rare to find women in professional audio, especially one as prominent as Sara Glaser, CAS. Having gotten her start in the industry in college as a recording engineer nearly 20 years ago, Glaser’s major successes can be found in her work as a production sound mixer for feature films and episodic television. Some of her most recent credits include Westworld, Grey’s Anatomy, Feud: Bette and Joan and the Netflix feature film, Rim of the World.

On July 14, Made In Her Image, Panavision, Light Iron and Lee Filters presented the virtual roundtable discussion “Through Her Lens: Creating a Truly Inclusive Film Industry.” Moderated by Made In Her Image founder Malakai and featuring cinematographers Mia Cioffi Henry, Melinda James, Kira Kelly, Cybel Martin, Keitumetse Mokhonwana and Sade Ndya, the conversation addressed inequities within the motion-picture industry through the lens of women of color behind the camera.

Inspired Images Names James Martin Chief Strategy Officer

Canadian production services and equipment rental house Inspired Image has appointed James Martin as chief strategy officer. A 20-year industry executive, Martin will focus primarily on business expansion and diversification. He will lead a new effort to develop strategic partnerships, add products and services, and grow the company’s presence across Canada. Previously, Martin was chief strategy officer at Sim International.

Stephen Lighthill Named ASC President

The American Society of Cinematographers board of governors has elected a new slate of officers, elevating Stephen Lighthill to president of the organization. The board also voted in vice presidents Amy Vincent, Bill Bennett, and John Simmons; treasurer Levie Isaacks; secretary Gregg Heschong; and sergeant-at-arms David Darby.
