Super 8 Film Competition Calls for Entries

An organization that fosters the creative use of Super 8 on a global scale – straight 8 – is accepting entries in the 2016 edition of their film competition. Anyone, anywhere can enter to make a short film on one cartridge of Kodak Super 8mm motion picture film. The contest is designed to inspire creativity using a beloved format that is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a unique visual medium. Top winning entries will be screened at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival in May, and a wider selection screened in London in early June.

Women Writers Lab 2016 being held September 22-25

Ymagis Reports Fourth Quarter Revenues

Ymagis today reported its consolidated revenue figures for the fourth quarter of 2015. For the quarter, the group’s revenue amounted to €51.6 million, an increase of 20.7 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2014. For the 2015 fiscal year, the company generated cumulated revenue of €157.7 million, an increase of 86.4 percent over the prior year period on a reported basis, and an increase of 4.8 percent over the 2014 fiscal year pro forma.

IMAX, Discovery Announce Distribution Deal

IMAX has announced a distribution and marketing partnership, which provides Discovery Communications' flagship network Discovery Channel with 18 months of exclusive paid global television rights for up to 10 IMAX documentary films to be released through the IMAX Original Film Fund, following the titles' theatrical release across the IMAX institutional theatre network. The alliance marks IMAX's first television distribution agreement for original content.

Sony, Scholastic Donate Books to Save the Children

On the heels of the Goosebumps movie release on Blu-ray and DVD, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has joined together with Scholastic, the global children's publishing and education company, to donate 20,000 books to children in underserved communities as well as those recovering from crises or natural disasters in the United States. The books, featuring a selection of Goosebumps books by bestselling author R.L. Stine, are being donated through the Scholastic Possible Fund and will be distributed by Save the Children.

Userful Claims World's First 6K Real-Time Network Video Wall

Userful Corporation has released Userful 8.5, a multi-source video wall controller that the company says supports video walls of up to 60 displays with up to 6K-resolution source in real time over a standard Ethernet network. A single PC or server running Userful software is now able to support video walls of up to 60 screens through the network.
