Borealis to Premiere at Brooklyn Film Festival

The Brooklyn Film Festival has announced their full slate of films for the 2016 edition of this Brooklyn cultural mainstay, which will include the U.S. premiere of Sean Garrity’s award-winning Borealis set to open the festival June 3. This charming, moving and often comedic family drama stars Jonas Chernick, Joey King, Emily Hampshire and Kevin Pollak and has picked up several awards on the festival circuit, including best director for Garrity and a special jury prize for King at the Canadian Filmmakers’ Festival and an honorable mention for best actress award at the 2015 Vancouver International Film Festival. Pollak, Chernick, Hampshire, King and director Garrity are confirmed to attend.

Cine Gear Expo to Screen Woody Allen’s Café Society

During this year’s Cine Gear Expo on Friday evening June 3, Sony will present an exclusive special screening of Woody Allen’s soon-to-be-released Café Society, in the Paramount Theatre. The bittersweet romance set in the 1930’s follows Bronx-born Bobby Dorfman to Hollywood where he falls in love, and back to New York where he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life. After the screening there’s an exclusive Q & A discussion featuring three-time Academy Award winner Vittorio Storaro, ASC, AIC.

Universal, Film Foundation Restore Brando's One-Eyed Jacks

Universal Pictures and The Film Foundation celebrated the Cannes Film Festival with the world premiere screening of the newly restored 1961 film, One-Eyed Jacks, starring and directed by Marlon Brando. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, who had long advocated for the film's restoration, closely supervised the work to ensure the restoration honored Brando's original artistic vision. One-Eyed Jacks was digitally scanned in 6K and restored in 4K from the original 35mm VistaVision negative.
