As a Foley mixer, Geordy Sincavage has worked on a variety of films and television series throughout his career, including The Revenant, and HBO original series' The Leftovers and Westworld. Sincavage is the owner of Sinc Sound, a sound effects company that records ambient sound for productions, without using an audio library.

SMPTE Names 2017 Fellows

SMPTE today announced that it will elevate 12 industry leaders to the status of SMPTE Fellow. This honor is conferred on individuals who have, through their proficiency and contributions to the industry, attained an outstanding rank among members of the Society. The Workshop’s True North is an inspiring documentary about Sean Swarner, who in 2002 became the first cancer survivor to reach the top of Mount Everest. He’s kept climbing ever since spreading his encouraging message of hope. In a span of five years, the two-time cancer survivor with only one functioning lung scaled the Seven Summits, the highest mountains in each of the seven continents.

Giving Reality a Cinematic Look

MTV’s new reality series, Siesta Key, takes the tried and tested concept of earlier efforts like Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and moves it to Florida, following a new group of young adults confronting issues of love, heartbreak, betrayal, class, and looming adulthood as they spend the summer together in their beautiful hometown. Siesta Key is set on a small barrier island off the coast of Sarasota. Cinematographer Gareth Paul Cox shot the series with VariCam 35 and LT cinema cameras.

Panasonic Unveils AU-EVA1 Cinema Camera

New York City and Los Angeles-area cinematographers and filmmakers are invited to attend an exclusive first look of Panasonic’s new AU-EVA1 cinema camera. The events will include the screening of short films shot with the new cinema camera and a question-and-answer session with the films’ cinematographers who will discuss shooting with the EVA1.

IBC’s Big Screen to Explore the Art, Science and Business of Cinema

This year’s IBC Big Screen program will take place in a specially built auditorium designed to IBC’s specifications and featuring the very latest in cinema technology, including Dolby Vision imaging and Dolby Atmos immersive sound. The four-day program will examine the latest topics, themes, and insights surrounding the art, science, and business of cinema, from capture through to exhibition. As well as being the home of the Big Screen program, the auditorium will screen in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Baby Driver, the acclaimed Edgar Wright feature from 2017.
