SMPTE Receives Third AMPAS Award

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers has received a Special Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. AMPAS presented the Special Award plaque to SMPTE at the Academy's annual Scientific and Technical Awards presentation, which took place Februrary 13 in Beverly Hills, California.

Super 8 Film Competition Calls for Entries

Ymagis Reports Fourth Quarter Revenues

Ymagis today reported its consolidated revenue figures for the fourth quarter of 2015. For the quarter, the group’s revenue amounted to €51.6 million, an increase of 20.7 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2014. For the 2015 fiscal year, the company generated cumulated revenue of €157.7 million, an increase of 86.4 percent over the prior year period on a reported basis, and an increase of 4.8 percent over the 2014 fiscal year pro forma.

MTI Film Restores The Power and the Glory

MTI Film, Hollywood recently completed the restoration of 20th Century Fox’s 1933 classic The Power and the Glory. The restored version of the film is currently submitted for a 2016 Focal International Award for Best Archive Restoration and Preservation Project. Directed by William K. Howard, The Power and the Glory tells the story of a ruthless railroad tycoon who works his way up from track walker to president of the company. The film is notable for a strong performance from a 33-year-old Spencer Tracy and for its script, the first produced by Preston Sturges.
