FilmLight has revealed the nominees for the 2023 FilmLight Color Awards. In their third year, the awards attracted more than 400 entries from 45 countries across the globe and the independent jury of cinematographers, colorists and creatives – lead this year by Lawrence Sher, ASC – has announced a list of 22 nominees across five categories.

This year, John Christopher Gaeta and Kim Libreri will be recognized for their vast contributions to emerging technologies in cinema and beyond, including virtual cinema, volumetric capture, and most notably, Bullet Time, which was pioneered on the original Matrix film trilogy.

Kevin Costner Directing Two-Film Western Saga

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Costner marks his return to feature film directing with New Line Cinema’s vast Horizon: An American Saga, a multi-faceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute, and has announced that not one, but two films will be released in theatres next summer—the first on June 28, 2024, followed quickly by the second on August 16, 2024.

Other Israeli Film Festival Set for November 2-9 in New York

The Other Israel Film Festival has announced its lineup for its 17th annual festival, to take place in person at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan and virtually November 2-9 in New York. The festival remains the only American film festival focused on both Israeli and Palestinian cinema. This year, it proudly continues its tradition of providing a platform for important conversations on this tumultuous region.
