NEC Unveils New Digital Cinema Projector with Replaceable Laser Modules

NEC Display today announced the release of a new 18,000-lumen digital cinema projector to complete the world’s first series of modular laser projectors, providing exhibitors with what the company says is a truly versatile and future-proof solution. With the option to replace the laser light module in the projector head, the NC Series delivers 2K-imagery on small to medium screens while making installation and maintenance simple. Pricing was not disclosed.

Attendees at HPA Tech Retreat Supersession Prepare to Make a Movie

For the first time at the Hollywood Professional Association’s Tech Retreat, this year’s Supersession will present a live production – from acquisition through post – of a short movie, in near real-time. The culmination of the production will be a screening of The Lost Lederhosen at the day’s conclusion. Joachim Zell, vice president of technology at EFilm, will be at the helm of this year’s event.

AAM Supports Sundance for Fourth Consecutive Year

Arts Alliance Media is providing its Screenwriter Theatre Management System and software support to the Sundance Film Festival for the fourth consecutive year. Sundance Institute will use AAM’s Screenwriter TMS at six 2020 Sundance Film Festival screening locations across Park City, Salt Lake City and the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah, from January 23 to February 2.

Women Take Center Stage at Sundance

In partnership with AMC Networks, Women in Film LA and ReFrame, New York Women in Film & Television will hold a panel discussion January 24th in Park City, Utah, during the Sundance Film Festival. The topic is Women on the Front Lines: Changing the Game. Sundance Institute reports that 46 percent of directors competing in this year’s festival are women, up six percent from 2019. While there’s still further to go, these statistics show that progress is possible when concerted efforts are made to address systemic biases.
