Disney’s Newsies: The Broadway Musical three-day cinema event broke ticketing records to become the highest-grossing Broadway event to date from Fathom Events. An estimated 210,250 people saw the event on big screens across the U.S. on February 16, 18 and 22, amounting to $3.47 million in ticket sales. It also now ranks as the No. 2 top-performing title for Fathom Events to-date.
RealD has acquired the remaining assets of MasterImage. Assets acquired by RealD include all intellectual property, technology, inventory, and accounts receivable previously controlled by MasterImage.

Ymagis Group today reported its consolidated revenue figures for the fourth quarter of 2016 and 2016 fiscal year ended December 31, 2016. Ymagis Group continues its strong growth trend in 2016, the company said, with cumulative revenue up +13 percent at €178.2 million due to acquisitions undertaken in the last 18 months. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2016 is up +1.6 percent at €52.3 million.
Point90 Cinemas is the first major cinema multiplex in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo, Egypt, located right in front of the American University in Cairo, inside the Point90 mall. In ever increasing numbers, exhibitors around the world are making the transition to laser projection. In response to that, at CinemaCon 2017 Barco will unveil the DP4K-40LHC and 20LHC RGB Flagship, 6P 3D single chassis, integrated high contrast projectors to the American audience. But nowhere in the new projectors’ specs will you find the term high dynamic range, which, given their capabilities seems like an oversight. Barco has a specific explanation for this, namely that it believes the exhibition world needs an HDR standard.
