The Tourism Authority of Thailand proudly supported CineAsia 2024, which was held from December 9–12 December at Icon Cineconic and True Icon Hall in Bangkok. Marking its third consecutive year at Icon Cineconic, CineAsia reinforced Thailand’s reputation as a world-class destination for industry gatherings. The program included previews of 2025 film releases, a global exhibition of cutting-edge cinema technology, and awards celebrating excellence in the film industry.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, underscoring Thailand’s growing influence in the global film industry. She said, “On behalf of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, it is an honor to be here at CineAsia 2024, a platform connecting the global film industry with opportunities for collaboration and growth. This occasion aso aligns with the Government’s campaign, Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025’.”
Thapanee highlighted Thailand’s prominent filmography Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World, filmed in Krabi, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok, alongside Thai films How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies and Death Whisperer: Tee Yod. These productions showcase Thailand’s stunning and unique scenery, demonstrating the country’s versatility as a filming destination that enhances storytelling through its breathtaking landscapes.
She further emphasized TAT’s vision of positioning Thailand among the top global soft power influencers by 2025, leveraging Thai Charms and the Five Must-Do Experiences”– Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must Seek, and Must See.
“Thailand is ready to become a global production hub, offering diverse locations, skilled crews, and attractive incentives, including a proposed cash rebate of up to 30 percent per project with no ceiling,” she said. “These initiatives, combined with our stunning natural and cultural backdrops, make Thailand an unparalleled choice for filmmakers worldwide.”
CineAsia 2024 also spotlighted Thailand’s success in the international film market. The Thai blockbuster Death Whisperer: Tee Yod 2 was lauded for record-breaking revenues exceeding one billion Baht, with screenings planned in more than 30 countries, including Vietnam, Laos, and Australia.
