Simon P. Whittard, Marie Soto of Seasun Productions, which has opened an LA office.Seasun Productions, a Barcelona-based production services company whose clients include leading ad agencies, film producers and reality TV productions, has opened a production office in Los Angeles that will target film, television and commercial producers seeking to produce their work abroad for location or budgetary reasons. Seasun is capable of supporting productions in Europe, South America, Latin America, Asia and other parts of the globe with services that run the gamut from cameras and crew through casting, talent, aerial photography, locations, music and post production.

Marie Soto will lead Seasun’s U.S. operations as executive producer. Soto brings lengthy experience in production, post-production and visual effects, including past affiliations with Omnicom Group, Belief Design, Riot and @radical media.

Seasun helps productions seeking to work abroad in order to capture exotic locations or lower costs. It operates worldwide, providing its clients with local crew, talent, location expertise, production gear and post-production services, making it easy for them to produce high quality content while controlling production expenses.

Seasun also provides producers with an extra level of security for foreign shoots. Clients work directly with the company’s production-savvy staff in Los Angeles, who can assist with any questions or problems that may arise, rather than attempt to communicate with crew operating half a world away. The company’s clients include such well-known brands as Nissan, Mitsubishi, Adidas, Samsung, Gap and Nike, as well as European offices of BBDO, Ogilvy & Mather, Euro RSCG Worldwide and Publicis.

Simon P. Whittard, Seasun Productions’ founder and CEO, says the same formula can benefit U.S. producers. “We supply everything from the cameras through craft services, and we do it at a very high level. Productions do not have to send a crew overseas. Instead, we help them work with local crew, who are highly skilled and experienced. The cost savings are very high.”

Soto notes that production companies are often aware of the cost advantages of shooting abroad, but have had difficulty in finding trusted foreign partners. Seasun Productions fills that gap. “Producers are under a lot of pressure to control costs,” she says. “We offer a solution to that problem. Producers get the benefit of working with a supplier with a proven track record. They reduce costs, without sacrificing production value.”

Seasun Productions has several wholly-owned operating divisions that provide specialty services, including location scouting, casting, modeling, online and in-store production, aerial photography and music supervision. Tapping into those resources, the company can offer producers all-inclusive production packages extending from pre-production through final delivery.

“We offer high value services and producers across Europe have responded,” Whittard says. “We believe that U.S. producers are looking for similar solutions and that creates an interesting opportunity for us.”
