Samsung unveiled the world’s first 3D Cinema LED screen this week at the Integrated Systems Europe trade show in Amsterdam.
Christopher Buchanan, director, business development for the Samsung Cinema LED Screen, said the 3D screen uses active shutter glasses. He added that the process to earn Digital Cinema Initiative certification for the 3D screen is underway.
According to Samsung, unlike standard 3D cinemas with more limited visual reach, the Samsung 3D Cinema LED screen delivers the 3D experience throughout the entire theater, ensuring that all moviegoers enjoy the same immersive viewing experience.
Adding 3D capabilities is a significant advancement over the initial high dynsmic range Samsung Cinema LED screen model, which debuted last March at CinemaCon. Since then, the screen has earned DCI certification and incorporated a dedicated sound system from JBL. Samsung acquired Harman, parent company of JBL, earlier this year.
