Production Equipment Rental Association Names Johnston Executive Director

The Production Equipment Rental Association has named John Johnston executive director.  PERA president Pat Patin co-owner and vice president of Texcam Inc. based in Houston Texas made the announcement. PERA was organized in 1993. The association has about 170 member companies in North America Europe and Asia. “John Johnston is a proven leader who brings an extraordinary range of experience and passion for the film and video production industries to this new role ” Patin says. “His mission includes building bridges with the creative community to ensure that our members are reliably anticipating and serving their needs.” In 2007 Johnston completed a 33-year career at Kodak’s Entertainment Imaging Division where he held positions in sales marketing and management in Hollywood Atlanta Dallas Rochester and New York City. He was regional manager of 41 Eastern and Midwestern states. Johnston has played active roles in various industry organizations including the Association of Independent Commercial Producers the New York Production Alliance and The Advertising Club of New York. He is also an associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers. “I have been privileged to count many of the most talented filmmakers in the world including cinematographers and their crew members as my mentors and friends ” Johnston says. “I plan to listen to and work closely with my old and new friends in the production industry so PERA members can better serve their constantly evolving needs.” Johnston is based in Rochester New York.
