Protesting his country’s invasion of Ukraine, Oleg Berezin has resigned at the chairman of the Association of Cinema Owners in Russia. He made the announcement yesterday in a public statement. Here is that statement in full:
“The activity as chairman of the Association of Cinema Owners is related to active interaction with the state authorities of the Russian Federation, aimed at defending the interests of the members of the Association of cinema Owners. But in connection with the decision taken by the leadership of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, with which I strongly disagree, and which I strongly condemn, I am therefore implementing actions that significantly impede or d make it impossible to achieve the goals for which the Association was created, in accordance with p. 5.4.5 Charter of the Association.
“In this regard, I have notified the Board of the Association of my decision to resign as Chairman of the Association of Cinema Owners.
“Until the transfer of powers to the new Chairman of the Association of Cinema Owners, who will be elected at the General Assembly of the Association in June, and until the relevant changes to the EGRUL of a legal entity and due notice of the Ministry abuses of justice of the Russian Federation, I undertake to perform all legally significant duties assigned to me.
“As of today, I cease to represent the position of the Association of Cinema Owners in various forums, expert councils and working groups as well as in the media.
“Nevertheless, I will continue by all possible ways to support our Russian film industry and do everything I can to reduce the negative consequences of recent events for Russians. of their movie theaters.
