GDC Technology is supplying Major Cineplex, the largest theatre chain in Thailand, with a wide range of digital cinema equipment and services, including servers, projectors, 3D systems as well as cineplex management solutions through Theatre Management Systems and Network Operations Center for its circuit wide digital deployment.

Major Cineplex claims more than 70 percent of the Thai cinema industry’s admission revenue. It has built the first-of-its-kind standalone Cineplex in Thailand and has been expanding its Cineplex network over the past 18 years to bring a full spectrum of entertainment and film repertoire to moviegoers.

The digital rollout has already begun and should be concluded by early 2014, and encompasses the deployment of 289 digital cinema servers, projectors and 34 sets of 3D systems. In addition, Major Cineplex has already deployed GDC Technology’s TMS to manage and automate the running of 239 digital screens across 23 theatres. In response to the expanding infrastructure of the theatre network, GDC Technology’s TMS deployment is expected to further expand to the entire circuit of Major Cineplex in the coming year.

Jim Patterson, director of new business with Major Cineplex said, “We are extremely delighted to be working with GDC Technology to bring the projection quality to the next level while elevating our moviegoers’ cinematic experience. This tremendous partnership has uniquely provided us with both improved and brighter quality, and onsite service, while saving significant costs at the same time. GDC Technology is our supplier of choice for current and future expansion.”

“We’re honored to support Major Cineplex for its digital cinema deployment as a pioneer in Thailand exhibition,” said Dr. Man-Nang Chong, founder and CEO of GDC Technology. “We are committed to providing high quality digital cinema solutions in partnering with Major Cineplex to grow its business in the years ahead.”
