The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival has announced that it will honor Twentieth Century Fox chairman & CEO Jim Gianopulos during the Sunday, June 5 Orpheus Awards at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Gianopulos will be feted alongside previously announced fellow Orpheus honoree Academy Award winning actor J.K. Simmons. The awards will be hosted by American Horror Story star Mena Suvari.
In addition to the Orpheus honorees, festival director Aris Katopodis announced the nine industry professionals who will make up the 2016 Jury. The jury members will determine which of the 50 films will receive the Orpheus Awards for the Van Vlahakis- Best Short Film Award, Best Documentary Best Feature Film and Best Performance. The only other Orpheus Award for films in competition not determined by the Jury is the Audience Award, which is voted on by the festival patrons. The Orpheus Awards are produced by Dorothea Paschalidou and directed by Yorgos Karamihos.
The nine-member Jury includes Record Producer Peter Collins, Veteran L.A. Film Critics Kirk Honeycutt and Robert Koehler, Professor Christine Panushka (John Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts at the USC School of Cinematic Arts), International Sales and Distribution Executive Pamela Pickering, Little Minx producer Jenette Maclachlan, Austrian filmmaker and Loyola Marymount professor Mikael Kreuzriegler, Cinematographer Anastas Michos (“Sparkle”) andMladen Milicevic, Chair of the Recording Arts Department at Loyola Marymount University.
