The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto will host an online product demonstration titled Media Accessibility, Creative Captioning and Subtitling. The demonstration will cover the SubtitleNext software Profuz Digital. The online event takes place via Zoom on Wednesday August 5 at 4:00 p.m. EDT, with American Sign Language provided throughout the presentation.
SubtitleNEXT is a professional multipurpose software platform, already adopted by many leading organisations and Belgium’s largest production company Videohouse. It is designed for the creation and live streaming of closed captions, subtitles, dubs, and audio-visual localization.
With accessibility in film fast becoming an essential part of the creative workflow, captions and subtitles can no longer be considered an after-thought in the filmmaking process. This prompted LIFT, an artist-run organization, dedicated to celebrating excellence in the moving image, to present and host the 60-minute online event showcasing SubtitleNext.
The event will be facilitated by Kamen Ferdinandov, chief technology officer and managing partner of Profuz Digital, who is also responsible for building PlayBox's Channel in a Box, in addition to the Profuz LAPIS and SubtitleNext products.
“The demonstration hosted by LIFT will be centred around digital media accessibility requirements, how to create accessible media, the accessibility features of SubtitleNext itself, and how to include creative captions and subtitles in the filmmaking process,” he said. “Following the presentation, online attendees will have time to ask questions and have a chat to us. We very much look forward to meeting you virtually.”
A SubtitleNext system will be available in the LIFT's digital editing suite for production members once rentals of the post-production facility have reopened.
