Also landing in the top ten, the hotly debated Die Hard is the nation’s fourth favorite festive flick of all time, despite director John McTiernan denying it’s a Christmas movie.

Elsewhere, the study found that despite being a long-time festive tradition, more Brits are turning to the cinema over the theatre come Christmas, with more than eight in 10 (82 percent) respondents stating they’d rather watch a film on the big screen than watch a pantomime.

What’s more, more than six in 10 (65 percent) Brits revealed watching Christmas films with their family and friends is one of their favorite things to do over the festive period.

Jon Dixon, UK marketing director at Showcase Cinemas said, “We’re delighted to bring four festive favourites back to the big screen, including the UK’s favorite Christmas film of all time, Home Alone.

“Our survey found that a huge 67 percent of Brits say Christmas films make them feel nostalgic, so this is a great opportunity to relive our favourite festive memories together at the cinema.”

The study also discovered that the cinema is now one of the only places safe from mobile phones. Just 1 percent of the nation stated they use their phone while at the cinema, meaning it’s the perfect place to escape to and spend quality time with the family.
