Fathom Events has named Larry Gillman as the company’s chief financial officer and promoted Tom Lucas to vice president of studio relations and Kyle Villella to vice president of distribution. They will report to CEO John Rubey.
Gillman brings with him an extensive background in financial planning and analysis across the media and entertainment sector. He was previously the executive vice president and CFO for the TV Guide Entertainment Group and worked as senior vice president and CFO for Fox Sports International when it was a start-up joint venture with News Corporation and Liberty Media. Gillman has also worked as an international business consultant for Yahoo! and at NBC in Los Angeles.
“This is a truly exciting time to join the team as Fathom is leading the transformation and growth of event cinema,” Gillman said. “John Rubey and the rest of the executive team recognize and understand the unique opportunities that Fathom presents within the cinema space, and I’m delighted to be a part of it.”
As vice president of studio relations, Lucas will serve as the lead contact for all studio events. Since joining Fathom in March 2015, Lucas has worked with major studios such as Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment and others, to schedule some of the most iconic features of all time for Fathom Events. Lucas has also developed the Turner Classic Movies relationship into an annual series of monthly nationwide events. Prior to joining Fathom, Lucas held executive positions at Warner Bros., Caesars Entertainment and Viacom/MTV Networks.
A 16-year veteran in exhibition and distribution, Villella will be responsible for all distribution strategy and execution for the company. Since joining Fathom in April 2015, Villella has added important exhibitors to the Fathom network such as Harkins Theaters, iPic Theaters and Megaplex Theaters. Previously, Villella held distribution executive positions at Lionsgate, Paramount, The Weinstein Company and LD Entertainment.
“We are thrilled to welcome Larry Gillman to the Fathom team as well as to announce the promotions of Kyle Villella and Tom Lucas,” said Rubey. “Gillman’s professional expertise in finance and business planning will help Fathom to improve financial operations and continue building our robust portfolio in 2016. Likewise, as we continue to innovate and grow as an organization, the well-deserved promotions of Villella and Lucas will help us in continuing to forge new relationships with major studios and enhance our distribution strategy with exhibitors,” concluded Rubey.
