Nordisk Film A/S will be honored with the Independent Film Award at CineEurope 2016. The award will be presented at the CineEurope Awards Ceremony hosted by The Coca-Cola Company June 23 at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. Kenneth Wiberg, president of film distribution at Nordisk Film A/S will be accepting the award.

Nordisk Film A/S is a prominent Nordic entertainment company that is part of the Danish media group, Egmont. They develop, produce and market films and TV series across the Nordic region, as well as operate the leading cinema chain in both Denmark and Norway. Nordisk Film A/S is the oldest active film studio in the world, and have brought stories to life through film for more than a century.

Ole Olsen founded Nordisk Film A/S in 1906 in Valby, Copenhagen. He was an energetic and imaginative entertainment entrepreneur with a keen eye for combining a good story with technical innovation. His philosophy and vision is still at the core of the Nordisk Film strategy - to entertain extensive audiences throughout the Scandinavian, European and overseas markets, utilizing original content based on the personal signature of the talents involved. A strategy which has historically earned the Company Denmark’s first Golden Palm and Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 1957 (Qivitoq), to recently acclaimed Kon-Tiki, Golden Globe and Academy Award nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 2013 among others.
Nordisk Film is currently receiving international recognition with the Academy Award nominated Best Foreign Language Film in 2016, A War, directed by Tobias Lindholm, as well as internationally acclaimed Land of Mine, directed by Martin Zandvliet.
