Carmike Cinemas Opens New 12-Screen Theatre in Central Pennsylvania

Carmike Cinemas has announced the grand opening of the new Carmike 12 entertainment complex featuring the BigD premium experience in Duncansville, Pennsylvania. The theatre will open for general admission October 1st with the 3D premier showing of 20th Century Fox’s highly anticipated The Martian.

To celebrate the grand opening, the Carmike 12 will open its doors at 4:00 p.m. (local time) to host a charitable event benefiting the Fort Roberdeau Association, offering movie tickets, popcorn and drinks priced at $2 each. To celebrate Carmike 12’s debut, guests who attend the theatre on opening weekend will enjoy a free Coca-Cola Freestyle Fountain Drink (small) with their ticket purchase through close of business October 4th. Carmike is also proud to present an expanded concession menu of hot food items and extensive beer and wine selections, which are available to patrons 21 years of age or older.

Additional promotions at this location include:

Stimulus Tuesday – $2.00 popcorn, $2.00 fountain drinks and $2.00 candy with ticket purchase every Tuesday.

Super Bargain Matinee – $5.75 admission prices for all movies between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Standard surcharges for BigD, 3-D and special showings apply.

The new 12-screen theatre seats over 2,400 guests with all auditoriums in the complex equipped with stadium seating, high-back rocking seats, retractable armrests and cup holders. The BigD, Carmike’s premium large screen format auditorium, seats 450 patrons and features a screen over 70 feet wide and three stories tall. To further enhance the premium movie-going experience, a custom QSC digital audio system has a 7.1 speaker array with 16 channels, upgradeable to 11.1 surround sound. The BigD is powered by a Christie Brilliant 3D flash projector that also presents 2D entertainment. The projector delivers a light output of 30,000 lumens.

This new complex will also provide special services for the visually and hearing impaired with Sony Closed Captioning glasses as well as descriptive and amplified audio (VI & HI).
