Cartoni Master MK2 fluid headCamera Support in Burbank has purchased a dozen Cartoni Master MK2 fluid heads from Cartoni USA and they are now a critical component of its offerings for live production.

Founded by veteran cameramen Randy Gomez and Engineer, Gary Taillon, the company supplies camera packages and specialty equipment to a number of popular shows produced before live audiences.

The Master MK2 is a complement to new lighter cameras, such as the Sony F800, Panasonic Varicam 3700 and Sony F55 cameras, that Camera Support supplies to most of its clients.

“They’re perfect for our camera packages,” says Camera Support rental manager Laurie Barrett. “We needed something lightweight, but rugged. The balance is really nice. The operators love them.”

Operators today are often tasked with executing complex moves to achieve “cinematic” effects. The Cartoni Master MK2 allows operators to pan and tilt with ease. Its patented counterbalance system provides smooth performance throughout the +/- 90-degree tilt range with perfect stops.

Barrett says Camera Support’s 12 Cartoni Master MK2 heads are in use every day on multiple shows. She adds that the support team from Cartoni USA works with Camera Support’s tech crew to ensure that productions remain on track, and that small glitches do not develop into big problems. “The customer support has been great,” she says.
