Canal+ Group and the Kudelski Group have shut down a piracy organization based in Canton of Vaud in the Lake Geneva region that delivered French-speaking on-demand content to thousands of customers. It is the first piracy shutdown of its kind in Switzerland. The operation is the result of a criminal complaint from Canal+ Group and Nagra, the digital TV division of the Kudelski Group, to the Vaud Police, which led the effort with the support of Europol, the law enforcement agency of the European Union, and Eurojust, the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation.
The Digital Citizens Alliance and Nagra have jointly an investigative report showcasing how illegal piracy subscription services in the United States have grown into a billion-dollar industry that steals from creators, circumvents legitimate TV operators, and poses risks for consumers. The report, entitled Money for Nothing, details how a sophisticated ecosystem of thousands of retailers and wholesalers – through content theft and enabled by legal businesses – provides illicit piracy services to at least nine million U.S. households.
Nagra, part of the Kudelski Group, has announced the application programming integration of NexGuard forensic watermarking technologies into Elemental MediaConvert, a file-based video transcoding service from Amazon Web Services. The API provides content owners, and any third-party working on premium content, with an added layer of security and traceability for their pre-release and early release content workflows, and simplifies the watermarking process for file transcoding and streaming content preparation.
Nagra, a Kudelski Group company, has launched a new forensic watermarking plug-in for editing and collaboration workflows on Avid's Media Composer video editing software. The NexGuard Plug-in for Editing Software allows studios, content owners and post-production houses to ensure protection of high-value assets when sharing pre-release content such as feature films or TV series with their editing department, reviewers or their creative agencies.
Nagra, a Kudelski Group company, today launched NexGuard ClipMark, which it says is the industry’s only forensic watermarking technology designed to detect the source of pre-release content leaks on very short video clips, down to thirty seconds.
