UNIC Elects New Board

SMPTE Hollywood and VES to Study AR

The Hollywood Section of SMPTE and the Visual Effects Society Los Angeles Section will conduct a joint meeting June 22 to examine the rapidly evolving field of augmented reality. AR is creating new ways for people to experience the world. At this joint meeting of the SMPTE Hollywood Section and VES Los Angeles, a panel of experts will provide an overview of the AR landscape and the technologies driving it. They will also share insights into emerging business opportunities and offer advice on what it takes to get involved in this exciting new field.

Kees van Oostrum to Serve Second Term as ASC President

The American Society of Cinematographers has re-appointed Kees van Oostrum to a second term as president of the organization, based on votes by the board of governors. The ASC board also elected its officers for the 2017-2018 term, including: Bill Bennett, John Simmons and Cynthia Pusheck as vice presidents; Levie Isaacks as treasurer; David Darby as secretary; and Isidore Mankofsky as sergeant-at-arms.
