Regal will open a ScreenX theatre on February 13 at its Regal Marq*E location in Houston, Texas. The new ScreenX auditorium brings the current Regal ScreenX count to 12 and is also home to the immersive, multi-sensory film format, 4DX, which opened last month. The latest ScreenX opening is part of a previously announced major expansion plan with the Cineworld Group, the parent company of Regal.
Warner Bros. Pictures announced today a multi-picture deal with the Korean cinema technology company CJ 4DPlex that will see up to six new films released globally in 2019 in the immersive 270-degree ScreenX format. Wanda Cinema has opened the world’s first Onyx multiplex theatre at its Shanghai Arch Wanda Cinema in Shanghai, China. The theatre, which opened September 7, has six Samsung Onyx screens in one location.
