Cinematographer Tony Miller, BSC, has been nominated for a 2016 RTS Craft & Design Award for Photography – Drama & Comedy, for his work on the acclaimed BBC comedy series Fleabag. Miller shot the series using Cooke Optics anamorphic lenses.
Last July PostWorks New York announced that it had formed a new digital film distribution service, PostWorks Digital Cinema, and hired industry veteran Greg Fornero to lead it. The plan was to work with indie film producers and distributors, international film festivals and independent digital intermediate facilities to provide digital cinema package duplication, drive set rentals and sales, KDM management and broadband content delivery services. To get a progress report on the new service I recently visited the PostWorks’ facility in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood to meet with senior vice president for theatrical services Clark Henderson.
Panavision will showcase many of its newest offerings, including the Millennium DXL 8K Camera and T Series anamorphic lenses at the 2016 edition of the Camerimage International Film Festival, which runs November 12-19 in Bydgoszcz, Poland. June Pictures and Nine Stories, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office, has begun principal photography in Oklahoma on the feature film Wildlife. Paul Dano will bring Richard Ford’s American classic Wildlife to the screen, marking his directorial debut. Academy Award nominees Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan are starring in this period drama.
The Society of Camera Operators announced the honorees of the Lifetime Achievement Awards, who will be honored at the February 11, 2017 at the Lowes Hollywood Hotel. The Lifetime Achievement Awards are given in recognition of outstanding achievement by a crafts person within the field of film and video production who has at least twenty years’ experience.

South Lake Audio Services, a union-signatory sound company offering mixing and ADR services for motion pictures and television, has launched in Burbank. Veteran sound executive Paul Rodriguez will serve as president with four-time Emmy-nominated re-recording mixer Keith Rogers heading the creative team. South Lake will operate out of the facilities of post-production powerhouse Roundabout Entertainment where it will have three mix stages and multiple ADR recording studios, with plans to add four more mix stages next year.
Richard Bakewell, best known for his camerawork on such television shows as Cops and Intervention, recently penned his second film. To create a proof-of-concept and short film based on an ‘80s throwback horror-genre feature-length screenplay Postpartum, he took the helm as director and executive producer.
