The supervisory board of the Arri Group with headquarters in Munich, Germany, has appointed Dr. Michael Neuhaeuser, effective September 1, as its new executive board member responsible for technology. He succeeds professor Franz Kraus who, after more than 30 years work for the Arri Group, joins the supervisory board and will continue to be closely associated with the company.
Technicolor's Academy Award winning VFX studio, Mill Film, has named Mark Thorley to head Mill Film in Australia. The announcement comes in the wake of the February launch of Mill Film in Adelaide, Australia.
With a passion for movies that he’s had for as long as he can remember Mark Louis, director of presentation for Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, started working in the theatre industry almost 40 years ago. When watching movies, he realized early on that the slightest imperfection in the presentation was a distraction. Even unavoidable distractions like on-screen cue marks on 35mm film prints would grab his attention. He says he found himself wondering why imperfections like those marks were present and could they be avoided. That frustration with a less than perfect presentation and a fascination with how movie magic actually worked is what lured him to the technical side of the business where he remains to this day. I recently spoke with Louis about his career in exhibition and his role at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas.
Unique X has named Roger Harris chief executive officer. Harris will start his position with Unique X on the October 1 after the successful transition of his responsibilities as managing director for RealD in EMEA and Russia. His role is to direct and oversee the rapid international expansion of Unique X’s portfolio of digital cinema software systems and services.
Renegade Animation co-founder and executive producer Ashley Postlewaite will take part in the panel discussion Extraordinary Women, Extraordinary Animation at Comic-Con International 2018 in San Diego. Postlewaite will join other women leaders from the animation industry in discussing how they turned their talents into successful careers. The panel will also discuss new technologies that are making it easier for young people, and especially women, to enter the field of animation.
New York’s Sound Lounge has promoted Liana Rosenberg to head of production. As a member of the management team, Rosenberg will be responsible for overseeing all production activity at the studio and supervise its team of staff producers. She will serve as a key liaison between Sound Lounge and its advertising agency and post-production house clients, and play a lead role in forecasting, budgeting and marketing.
National CineMedia has named Jerry Canning to the new role of vice president, digital ad sales. A digital industry thought-leader with long stints at Facebook and Google, Canning will lead the company’s digital advertising sales efforts and help connect brands to movie audiences through NCM’s digital products including Cinema Accelerator, Noovie ARcade, and Fantasy Movie League.
Deluxe has named Barbara Jean Kearney vice president of sales for its New York post production office. Kearney joins Deluxe New York from Technicolor Postworks, where she led feature sales since 2012.

Terry Lawler and the board of directors of New York Women in Film & Television have announced that Lawler will conclude her tenure as executive director December 31, 2018. A longtime member of NYWIFT, Lawler joined the staff as executive director in June 1997, at the start of NYWIFT’s 20th anniversary year. Under her leadership the organization has doubled its membership size, tripled its operating budget, and has spearheaded the creation of numerous innovative programs and initiatives.
