The sales, services, and marketing teams from Cinionic – Barco’s cinema joint venture – are now brought together with Barco’s cinema manufacturing and engineering departments at one location in Kortrijk, Belgium. With a focus on automation and innovative technologies, Barco’s branewand production facility, called the Engine, is geared to create the cinema projectors of the future, both in terms of volume and technology.

Guangzhou Jinyi Media to Open 20 Dolby Cinemas in China

Guangzhou Jinyi Media Corporation, owner of Jinyi Cinemas, one of the largest cinema circuits in China, and Dolby Laboratories today announced a partnership to open 20 Dolby Cinema locations in China in the following four years. Jinyi is also committed to deploy 630 Dolby digital cinema systems in China, including Dolby Integrated Media Servers, Dolby cinema audio processors, Dolby Multichannel Amplifiers, and SLS Cinema Series Speaker Systems.

Two German Exhibitors Install Sony Laser Projectors in Time for Star Wars

Germany’s Cinecitta’ Nuremberg, one of Europe’s largest and most technically advanced multiplexes, has purchased two Sony Digital Cinema SRX-R815DS 4K laser dual projection systems. Meanwhile, CineSpace also purchased a SRX-R815DS system for the 25-meter screen at its luxurious Waterfront complex in Bremen. The auditorium also features Dolby Atmos sound.

Hoyts Purchases Christie CP4325-RGB Pure Laser Cinema Projectors

Australian exhibitor Hoyts has purchased and undisclosed number of Christies’ newly introduced CP4325-RGB pure laser cinema projector. The projectors will be installed at Hoyts’ upcoming flagship all RGB laser cinema complex located in Docklands, Melbourne, as well as in Auckland-based post-production house Department of Post.

Emagine Opens Super EMAX Theatre

Later this month Emagine Entertainment will unveil its Super EMAX theatre, which features a 92 feet wide by more than 48 feet tall screen. The company says it is the largest movie screen in the State of Michigan. Located at Emagine’s Novi location, the theatre’s grand opening will take place December 15 with the first showing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
