Avengers: Infinity War Sets 4DX Records

According to CJ 4DPlex, the new film Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War has been seen in the 4DX immersive seating format by more than two million people across 59 countries. This breaks the record for highest-attendance 4DX film to date. The milestone also makes Avengers: Infinity War the most successful film released in the format, surpassing the previous record holder, 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Kinopolis Adding D-Box Seats to Eighteen Screens

Kinopolis, Germany’s largest independent cinema operator, is adding D-Box motion seats to 18 new screens throughout the Germany. Currently, Kinopolis offers D-Box motion technology on nine screens in Main-Taunus, Darmstadt and Rhein-Neckar. The motion seats will be added to screens in Hanau, Gießen, Rosenheim, Aschaffenburg, Bonn - Bad Godesberg and Koblenz. This brings the total number of D-Box screens with Kinopolis to 27.

Warner Bros. Releasing Five Films in ScreenX Format

Warner Bros. Pictures intends to release up to five titles in CJ 4DPlex’s ScreenX format within the next twelve months. The films announced to date include The Nun in September, Aquaman in December, and Shazam! in April 2019, with additional titles to be confirmed later this year. This will build on the success of Rampage, which was released earlier this month in the panoramic, 270-degree, premium cinema format.

Silverbird Cinemas Opening Nigeria’s First 4DX Theatres

Silverbird Cinemas announced at CinemaCon this week that it is installing the first CJ 4DPlex 4DX theatres Nigeria. The first 4DX theatre will be located at the exhibitor’s Ikeja location – the highest-grossing cinema in West Africa. The second 4DX site will be opened in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. Silverbird has 10 locations across Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana, and is known for bringing innovation to the region. It currently holds 60 percent market share in Nigeria.
