CJ 4DPlex Celebrates 500th 4DX Screen
CJ 4DPlex has reached the 500th 4DX screen milestone with the launch of its newest location at Pathé Belle Épine Cinema in Thiais, France. The first film screening in 4DX at this location was Ready Player One.

4DX Touches All the Senses
This past Saturday at the CGV Buena Park 8 in Orange County, California, CJ 4DPlex debuted Titanic: An Icy Adventure, a special movie presentation created with blind and visually impaired children in mind. More than fifty children and their families attended the first ever showing of the audio-only story supplemented by 4DX cinema technology.
CJ 4DPlex to Launch 4DX with ScreenX and 4DX VR Cinema
CJ 4DPlex is launching 4DX with ScreenX to create what the company says is the next revolution of immersive cinema. The concept is a combination of the 4DX and ScreenX cinema formats. In other news, CJ 4DPlex is also introducing 4DX VR Cinema. Both concepts will be showcased in the U.S. for the first time at CinemaCon, April 23-26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
4DX with ScreenX Nominated for Edison Award
CJ4DPlex’s immersive cinema technology 4DX with ScreenX is among the contenders for the top prize in the Media and Visual Communication – Entertainment category at this year’s Edison Awards. The annual awards, which recognize the most innovative new products in the world, will be held on April 11th in New York City.
Barco Escape Ceases Operations
Barco Escape has suspended operations effective immediately, Digital Cinema Report has learned exclusively. Barco Escape was installed in thirty-one theatres around the world and there were several studios ready to commit to projects when the decision was made.
Black Panther Released in ScreenX Format
Black Panther is the first film from Marvel Studios to be converted into the ScreenX format, a multi-projection system that provides a 270-degree panoramic film viewing experience within a theatre setting. It is the latest collaboration between The Walt Disney Studios and CJ 4DPlex. The film will be released in ScreenX on a global scale, with showings in eight different countries.
Regal Adds 4DX Screen in Washington, D.C.
Regal Entertainment has added a 4DX screen to its Washington, D.C. location the Regal Gallery Place Stadium 14. This is the first 4DX screen in the market and Regal’s sixth overall.
CJ 4DPlex Claims Record Setting Box Office 2017
CJ 4DPlex says it finished 2017 with record gross box office and attendance for its 4DX immersive seating cinema format. Additionally, the company says, more new 4DX locations opened in 2017 than any other year, reaching 475 locations worldwide.
CJ 4DPlex Announces Next Four 4DX Theatres
CJ 4DPlex has announced the locations of the next four 4DX theatre locations to open as part of its agreement with Cinépolis. The next 4DX theatre part of the agreement will open in Mexicali, Mexico on January 15, bringing the total number of 4DX sites in Mexico to 31.
Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé Increases Order for 4DX Screens
Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé announced today that it will open at least 50 CJ 4DPlex 4DX locations in Europe by 2020.
