Reel Cinemas has announced that it is adding a ScreenX screen to its theatre in The Dubai Mall, which is the world’s largest and most visited retail and entertainment destination and welcomes more than 80 million visitors every year.
The Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Ant-Man and The Wasp will be released in ScreenX, CJ4DPlex’s panoramic film format. Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to premiere around the world beginning July 4.
Cineworld Group says it will open 100 ScreenX locations at its theatres in the next few years. The agreement, which marks a major milestone for both companies, will include installing the multi-projection cinematic system in 10 different countries: U.S., U.K., Israel and seven other European countries.
The Kuwait National Cinema Company has signed an agreement with CJ 4DPlex to bring its panoramic film-viewing experience ScreenX to the Middle East. The agreement represents the first ScreenX screen to be installed Kuwait.
According to CJ 4DPlex, the new film Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War has been seen in the 4DX immersive seating format by more than two million people across 59 countries. This breaks the record for highest-attendance 4DX film to date. The milestone also makes Avengers: Infinity War the most successful film released in the format, surpassing the previous record holder, 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Kinopolis, Germany’s largest independent cinema operator, is adding D-Box motion seats to 18 new screens throughout the Germany. Currently, Kinopolis offers D-Box motion technology on nine screens in Main-Taunus, Darmstadt and Rhein-Neckar. The motion seats will be added to screens in Hanau, Gießen, Rosenheim, Aschaffenburg, Bonn - Bad Godesberg and Koblenz. This brings the total number of D-Box screens with Kinopolis to 27.
20th Century Fox and ScreenX are in advanced discussions to continue their partnership and release new films in the panoramic 270-degree cinema technology format. Following the success of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, 20th Century Fox and ScreenX plan to join forces again in 2018.
Warner Bros. Pictures intends to release up to five titles in CJ 4DPlex’s ScreenX format within the next twelve months. The films announced to date include The Nun in September, Aquaman in December, and Shazam! in April 2019, with additional titles to be confirmed later this year. This will build on the success of Rampage, which was released earlier this month in the panoramic, 270-degree, premium cinema format.
Silverbird Cinemas announced at CinemaCon this week that it is installing the first CJ 4DPlex 4DX theatres Nigeria. The first 4DX theatre will be located at the exhibitor’s Ikeja location – the highest-grossing cinema in West Africa. The second 4DX site will be opened in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. Silverbird has 10 locations across Nigeria, Liberia and Ghana, and is known for bringing innovation to the region. It currently holds 60 percent market share in Nigeria.
Cineworld Group has announced that there will be 145 total CJ 4DPlex 4DX auditoriums across Cineworld Group's worldwide footprint, adding 79 Regal Entertainment locations in the U.S and 20 Cineworld Cinemas and Cinema City theatres across Europe and the Middle East.
