AARP Study Finds Boomer Audience Unaware of Theatre Upgrades, Amenities

Baby Boomers remain a significant part of the movie-going audience with more than 70 percent of this population going to the movie theatre and experiencing its amenities. However, there are significant gaps in this audience’s awareness of new theatre offerings/attractions and premium experiences. A new study released today by AARP, What Boomers Want: Insights into Cinema Experience Preferences and Behaviors, examines the specific preferences of movie-goers in an effort to reveal what Boomers want from their movie-going experience as well as reasons why they may not choose to go to theatres more frequently.

At CinemaCon 2018 Sony is highlighting its 4K laser projector systems and direct view Crystal LED display technology. First introduced to the exhibition industry last year, Sony’s Crystal LED display system is now in the market. Barco Unveils New Manufacturing Facility: the Engine

The sales, services, and marketing teams from Cinionic – Barco’s cinema joint venture – are now brought together with Barco’s cinema manufacturing and engineering departments at one location in Kortrijk, Belgium. With a focus on automation and innovative technologies, Barco’s branewand production facility, called the Engine, is geared to create the cinema projectors of the future, both in terms of volume and technology.

Cinema Buying Group Offers Members Access to EclairPlay

The National Association of Theater Owners’ Cinema Buying Group today announced a global partnership with Eclair USA to provide participating CBG movie theaters with easy and cost-effective access to EclairPlay, a digital cinema package broadband delivery platform currently in use at more than 180 North American cinemas. Through EclairPlay, CBG’s members will have access to expanded programming options and an ever-increasing portfolio of first-run independent films and event cinema fare.
