Global Box Office Showing Signs of Recovery

All box office regions have reported some notable positive news in recent days as recovery continues to be seen in different pockets around the world, according to the latest research from London firm Gower Street Analytics. However, the report continued, arguably the most important was the re-opening of Los Angeles. Coming just a couple of weeks on from the re-opening of another key Domestic market, New York City, the re-opening of Los Angeles (and a number of other counties) boosted California’s market share of open theatres from 13 percent a week ago to 45 percent this past weekend.

Venice Upgrades Taoyuan City Cinema

Venice Cinemas has deployed a suite of innovative projection and content management solutions to deliver awe-inspiring visuals in its upgraded multiplex in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Located in the bustling business district of Zhongli, Venice Cinemas is spread across two buildings connected by an iconic, red-colored pedestrian bridge reminiscent of those found in Venice, Italy. It recently underwent a major facelift by adding five new halls at the basement level, boosting the total number of cinema auditoriums from 10 to 15. These five new halls are equipped with 8.5-meter (27.8 foot) screens, adorned in special color schemes, and connected to a spacious lobby featuring highly immersive waterfall projections that accentuates the multiplex’s distinctive aquatic theme.

Fox Theatre, Atlanta, Upgrades Facility Air Quality to Boost Customer Confidence

British Private Equity Firm LDC Invests in Sohonet

The British mid-market private equity firm LDC has invested in Sohonet, an international provider of connectivity, collaboration software, media services and network security for the media and entertainment industry. LDC’s investment will support the existing management team, led by CEO Chuck Parker, to further build on its international growth strategy and explore complementary acquisitions.
