Vista Introduces Cinema Manager

Vista Cinema has introduced Cinema Manager, a browser-based application designed to enhance box office and concessions sales activities and frees cinema personnel from the back office, allowing for increased mobility, more efficient execution and improved focus on customers. Cinema Manager is the result of nearly two years of development.

Kinepolis Group Completes Landmark Cinemas Acquisition

Belgium based Kinepolis Group has completed its acquisition of Landmark Cinemas in Canada. In mid-September, Kinepolis reached an agreement with the shareholders of Landmark Cinemas to acquire the company subject to Canadian regulatory approvals. The approval by the Minister of Canadian Heritage, The Honorable Mélanie Joly, on December 7, allowed Kinepolis to successfully complete the acquisition.

Cineworld Buys Regal for Nearly $6 Billion

Cineworld, the U.K.’s largest cinema operator, has acquired Regal, one of the largest theatre circuits in the U.S., for a reported $5.9 billion. The deal would create the world’s second-largest movie theater owner and enable Cineworld to better compete with AMC Entertainment, which is owned by the Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda. The Cineworld-Regal combination would create a company with more than 9,500 screens in 10 countries.

Emagine Opens Super EMAX Theatre

Later this month Emagine Entertainment will unveil its Super EMAX theatre, which features a 92 feet wide by more than 48 feet tall screen. The company says it is the largest movie screen in the State of Michigan. Located at Emagine’s Novi location, the theatre’s grand opening will take place December 15 with the first showing of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Noovie Presents the Making of Star Wars

The content is part of NCM’s Noovie Backlot series. For Steve Ochs, NCM’s senior vice president, marketing and creative, this is all part of his overall effort to re-imagine the preshow experience.
