Fandango Launches Comprehensive Program to Reassure Returning Movie Patrons

To support the reopening of movie theatres across the country, Fandango announced today the launch of a multi-dimensional program to help moviegoers go back to theatres with confidence and peace of mind. Starting today, Fandango.com and Fandango mobile apps will begin rolling out new resources and product functionality, including social distance seating maps, a one-stop guide to safety policies provided by more than one hundred theatre chains, a special search filter to find reopened theatres by location, instructional videos and more.

Kinepolis Accelerates Move to Laser Projection

Global exhibitor Kinepolis Group, which operates more than a thousand screens across nine countries including the US, Belgium, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Canada, is accelerating its transition to laser projection. In 2018, Kinepolis announced an exclusive partnership with Cinionic to power 300 screens with new laser projectors.

Cinionic Expands Relationship with Saudi Arabia’s Muvi Cinemas

Cinionic, the Barco, CGS, and ALPD cinema joint venture, has expanded its relationship with Muvi to extend laser-powered cinema to more audiences across Saudi Arabia. Muvi, the country’s first homegrown theater chain, launched in 2019 as part of the introduction of the cinema experience in the region. Cinionic, a partner since Muvi’s inception, and as part of the ongoing expansion of cinema in the Kingdom, will equip more than 400 new screens with technology from its award-winning laser portfolio, including Barco Smart Laser and Series 4 projectors.

Marcus Announces Movie STAR Approach

Marcus Theatres today announced its plan to begin re-opening theatres, which will begin June 19. As part of the initial reopening experience, Marcus Theatres is introducing its Movie STAR approach, which incorporates new health and safety measures and is in alignment with Centers for Disease Control guidelines. Everyone can be a Movie STAR and play a role in creating a safe environment with social distancing (S); Thorough cleaning (T); App and website ordering of tickets, food and concessions for no-to-low contact interactions (A); and respecting each other by following these new protocols (R). Policies and guidelines will continue to evolve with time and will be assessed and updated on an ongoing basis.
