Alamo Drafthouse Installs Sony 4K Laser Projectors in Newest Theatre
Alamo Drafthouse’s newest location – its 39th – in Westminster, Colorado continues the cinema-eatery’s tradition of implementing Sony’s 4K laser digital cinema projection technology. The nine-screen, all-laser complex features Sony’s SRX-R815P and 815DS 4K laser projectors in auditoriums ranging in size from 78 Seats to 245 Seats. The projectors deliver a high contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and are high dynamic range and high frame rate capable.
Gemini Man Releasing Globally in ScreenX
CJ 4DPlex and Paramount Pictures have expanded their ongoing partnership to release the action-thriller Gemini Man in the ScreenX format. Directed by Ang Lee. Gemini Man in ScreenX will be shown in theaters worldwide beginning October 2, on 233 screens, across 22 countries. The film opens in the U.S. on October 11 at Regal Cinemas, B&B Theatres and CGV Cinemas.
War Releasing in India in MX4D
Leading Hindi films distributor Yash Raj Films has teamed with California based MediaMation to release the Indian feature War in MX4D. The film is one of the most anticipated features of all time for the Indian film industry.
Jinyi Cinemas, Jiaxing, China Opens Country’s 2,000th Dolby Atmos Screen
Dolby and Guangzhou Jinyi Media Corporation, owner of Jinyi Cinemas, one of the largest cinema circuits in China, today announced the opening of the 2,000th Dolby Atmos cinema screen in China at Jinyi Cinemas Jiaxing site. Jinyi has established its presence in more than 60 cities across China, such as Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Suzhou, and Wuhan, with more than 170 self-owned cinemas, in which 88 screens are equipped with Dolby Atmos. Dolby Atmos has become the largest premium format in China by screen count, according to the latest statistics from EntGroup Inc.
B&B Theatres to Install Ten MX4D Auditoriums
B&B Theatres will install ten MX4D auditoriums in new builds, existing theatres and retrofitted cinema acquisitions across the United States by the end of next year. “The expansion of our relationship with MediaMation proves our belief in MX4D,” said Brock Bagby, executive vice president of B&B Theatres.
Galaxy to Open Sony PLF Theatre in Texas
Sony Electronics has announced the expansion of its Sony Digital Cinema premium large format movie theatre auditorium in its first location in Texas, at Galaxy Theatres in The Colony. The contemporary cinema is planned to open next spring at Galaxy Theatres’ newest venue at Grandscape in the Dallas/Fort Worth area – a one-of-a-kind, mixed-use real estate development featuring shopping, dining and other attractions.
AMC Selects Cineplex Digital Media to Manage its Network
AMC has selected Cineplex Digital Media to manage and enhance AMC’s digital network at approximately 630 locations across the United States, including its box office signage, theatre menu boards and other ancillary signage. As part of the agreement, CDM will deploy its Flex Experience Platform throughout AMC’s domestic theatre circuit.
Yash Raj Films’ War Releasing in 4DX
Leading Indian film production company Yash Raj Films has announced that its latest feature film War will be coming to select theatres in CJ4DPlex’s multi-sensory cinema experience, 4DX. War was produced by Aditya Chopra. The film will release October 2 on Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday in India. The movie in 4DX will be available in India at PVR Cinemas and Cinepolis Cinemas, and at Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, and across the UAE at Vox Cinemas.
