Ymagis Group today announced an agreement with Vicenza-based Open Sky SRL for the acquisition Open Sky Cinema, its theatrical content delivery activities dedicated to cinema exhibition.

ECA Conference set for February 3
The Event Cinema Association’s annual ECA Conference & Awards will be held in London on Friday February 3 at the QE11 Centre in central London, near Parliament Square in Westminster. The conference, now in its fourth year, is the only event of its kind in the world.

Director Makoto Shinkai’s widely acclaimed animated film Your Name. has been nominated for top awards by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood. Your Name., from Toho Co. is being distributed in North America by Funimation Films. It picked up a nomination for Best Animated Feature – Independent and as well as a nomination for best direction of an animated feature.
Your Name Being Considered for Oscar
The Japanese film Your Name has made the official Oscar consideration list in the Best Animated Feature category. The film will be vying for one of five nomination spots in its category that will be voted on for the 89th annual Academy Awards. Funimation Films acquired North American distributions rights to Your Name earlier this year from Toho Co. in Japan
ArcLight Cinerama Dome Upgrades for Billy Lynn
ArcLight Cinemas has collaborated with Christie to custom fit the legendary Cinerama Dome in order to properly project the west-coast debut of Academy-award winning director Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk in 3D 4K 120 frames-per-seconds, the way it was shot. The debut will be held November 10.
Ymagis Group Acquires DSAT Cinema
In one of the biggest deals in the emerging digital cinema business, the Ymagis Group has acquired Eutelsat’s 50.2 percent stake in DSAT Cinema and now, effectively, controls the company.
Nightmare on Elm Street in a New Light
The original 1984 Warner Bros. horror classic Nightmare on Elm Street will screen in Los Angeles this Halloween weekend with a new twist: the film will be screened with immersive visual effects from Phillip's new cinema experience, LightVibes. The film is being shown at L.A.’s Downtown Independent Theatre tonight at eight p.m. and October 30-31 at seven p.m.
ECA Launches Global Initiative
The Event Cinema Association has launched a new initiative with its members to help raise the profile of the Event Cinema industry worldwide. The newly-formed ECA Advisory Committee includes nine members and four ECA staff members from the exhibition, distribution, public relations, marketing, cinema services and satellite transmission industries and aims to address some of the key issues that face this growth market in order for the sector to continue to flourish.

Christie Anchors Festival’s Temporary Cinema
Christie is providing 4K projection to the British Film Institute London Film Festival at a unique temporary cinema that could become a blueprint for others. The Embankment Garden Cinema has also been built in celebration of the LFF’s 60th anniversary. For 11 days, with a 16-meter screen bigger than most London cinemas, the rigid-bodied structure will seat 800 people at London’s Victoria Embankment. It will also screen the LFF’s Official Competition and Strand Gala premieres.
