A major project to update the post’s auditorium has put it back at the center of the Los Angeles community.
In its effort to meet audience demand for exceptional content, Fathom Events has hired Andrew Goldman as vice president of programming. Based in New York, Goldman will bring his creative expertise and industry-wide relationships to help Fathom grow its cable, broadcast, Broadway and other verticals to acquire high-value content that has broad audience appeal.
On the heels of its already record-breaking release, and in response to popular demand, a third Fathom Events date has been added for Warner Bros. Pictures’ much-heralded WWI documentary They Shall Not Grow Old, from Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson. The film will be screened at more than 1,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada on Monday, January 21, taking advantage of the long Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.
In its first North American presentation, director Peter Jackson’s stunning World War I documentary They Shall Not Grow Old grossed $2.3 million at the domestic box office on Monday, setting a record for Fathom Events as the highest-grossing single-day documentary, and one of the top-grossing single-night presentations of any kind from the distribution company.
The official premiere of the Disney film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms to place in Moscow’s Zaryadye Concert Hall, which opened in September. The stage has already played host to famous orchestras and world-renowned musicians, but the screening of the Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing movie was the first international premiere to take place at the venue. The event featured a Christie CP4325-RGB pure laser projector and CineLife electronics platform. Christie’s long-time partner in Russia, Asia Cinema, provided technical support for the premiere.
Fathom Events is expanding its distribution beyond the cinema with the announcement of its new Fathom Affinity Network. The company is partnering with Faith Content Network to reach nearly 800 churches nationwide, located in additional markets outside its current exhibition partner locations. This partnership will provide theatrical-quality faith and inspirational content to underserved audiences across the country.

The film is presented in 2D and RealD 3D. Tickets go on sale on Friday.
