Volfoni Issues Statement in Response to RealD Lawsuit
In response to the patent infringement lawsuit filed by RealD against it Volfoni today issued the following official statement on innovation to the cinema industry:

RealD Accuses Volfoni, CinemaNext of Patent Infringement in Germany
RealD today filed a complaint with the District Court (Landgericht) in Düsseldorf, alleging that Volfoni SAS, Volfoni GmbH and CinemaNext Deutschland have infringed three of RealD’s European patents by the importation, sale, or offer for sale of the Volfoni SmartCrystal Diamond cinema systems in Germany. In the complaint, RealD requests an injunction banning the sale of the infringing devices and seeks financial damages.

Village Cinemas Opens First Sphera
Greek exhibitor Village Cinemas has opened the first Sphera auditorium, CinemaNext’s new premium format cinema concept, at its theatre at The Mall of Athens.
Kitag Cinemas Installing 4DX Seats
Kitag Cinemas, the largest exhibitor in German-speaking Switzerland, is installing CJ 4DPlex’s 4DX cinema seating in its theatre in Abaton Zurich. Kitag Cinemas has 85 screens and 17,000 seats at the following locations: Basel, Bern, Biel, Lucerne, Emmenbrück/LU, St. Gallen, Abtwil/SG, Winterthur and Zurich. The Zurich theatre has 12 auditoriums with a total of 1,759 seats. The 4DX screen is scheduled to open before the end of the year.
Irish Film Fest London Opens Nov. 29
Back for their seventh year, from November 29 through December 3, the Irish Film Festival London will present Ireland’s latest mainstream and independent films over five days across London with exclusive previews, panel discussions and director’s Q&As. This year’s festival opens with The Drummer and the Keeper, directed by Nick Kelly, telling the touching story of an unlikely friendship that develops between the bipolar drummer of a rock band and an institutionalized teen suffering from Asperger's syndrome.

Pathé Massy Installs Dolby Cinema
Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé, the largest cinema chain operator in France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, has installed Dolby Cinema at Pathé Massy, south of Paris, and will open today. This marks the first Dolby Cinema in France, with Pathé Vaise in Lyon and Pathé Docks 76 in Rouen opening later this year.
NOS Installs Aptilo Networks Wi-Fi Services
Portuguese communications and entertainment group NOS has selected Aptilo Networks to enable carrier-class guest Wi-Fi services to NOS' business customers. NOS' B2B Wi-Fi services will be deployed at businesses including large multisite retail venues, banks and cinema chains across the country.
Deluxe, Unique Digital Extend Partnership in Spain
Deluxe Entertainment Services Group has announced a four-year agreement between its digital cinema group and Unique Digital making Unique Deluxe’s preferred partner for theatrical electronic content delivery in Spain, an extension of an existing relationship between the two companies that to date covers ten territories across Europe.
